From the platform, ten meters can look like an entire horizon. In døds—Norwegian for “death”—athletes launch themselves outward, hold an expressive pose, and tuck just before entering the water.

More than a stunt

The sport separates itself from traditional diving through its visual language. Competitors can use a classic spread position or freestyle with rotations and creative movement, but the landing still demands timing and body control.

The drama is obvious. The precision is easier to miss—and it is the whole sport.

How it is judged

Judges look at the run-up, power, flight, style, and landing. A convincing dive feels fully committed from takeoff through the final protective tuck.
